So... Are we working together to win together yet?
With this new era of cougar football, new attitudes - I have to wonder - do you see that we are doing better and better at working together to win together? I've seen players who care, coaches who are reaching out to make sure we are all on the same page, and a don't quit attitude on the field that I've not seen in recent years. What do you think?

Like every program that is growing - there are some growing pains, but yes - I personally do think that the "Cougar Nation" is working together to win together. I've seen more positive comments from everyone than I ever have before and it's clear that we care more about our program. Communication is better, and even with the way we are working together to help one of our own win against cancer -- I think we are on the right track!
ReplyDeleteWe still have issues such as hecklers in the crowd but we have have made great strides in the revitalization of the Cougar football program. Like a train...once the momentum gets going, you can't stop it! I would like to know why the players sit quietly in the dark before the games instead of getting fired up and pumped? Not sure about that one yet.
ReplyDeleteI think we are moving from the symptoms of a dysfunctional family to one that is learning to hold each other accountable. I think we are working hard to get there, and we will get there! Communication is the key, but only if you communicate. Keep it 100%
ReplyDeleteFrom a JV Parent...these kids, JV & Varsity, put ALOT of work into playing football. It's bad enough for people to run their mouths about how bad they suck at school, but JV Cheerleader, who will go unnamed, you know it if it's you...you need to keep your negative comments to yourself, you are supposed to be encouraging these players, not discouraging them or ridiculing them. Keep your mouth shut if you can't say something nice, I know your momma taught you better.
ReplyDeleteAs I sat watching practice and the RCMS and the RCHS JV games; I ask myself how many hours I had done so over
ReplyDeletethe years? Watching most of these kids and I have to remind myself they are kids not paid athletes;
I wondered if they remember WHY they play this game of football? Answer has to be because they LOVE IT.
They go out in helmet and gear in 90 - 100 degree temps; Run, Hit, feel and endure the pain all for the
love of football. They need to turn their minds back to those first days of excitement and passion and
have fun and enjoy the game.
Fans are there and support and believe in you. If you do not think so take a few second and look
into the stands before a game. When you get to sidelines; as a team, turn with helmets raised and give YOUR
fans a Cougar salute.
NEVER, NEVER quit!!! Erase defeat from your minds. Give 100% of yourselves; every Coach,
every player, every fan "Work together-Stand together-Win together". To accept defeat is to be defeated.
As long as you give all you can give You are successful. Some may say that's a loser attitude I
beg to disagree. Play with Cogar Hearts and you will always be victorious.
ROCK HARD!!!!!
I'm so proud of the way things are coming together. Each week I see less mistakes on the field. Each week I see and hear more pride in the stands. I'm really, really proud to be a Cougar!
ReplyDeleteA cougar player just said if the coaches give up on us then we give up on them.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of whether the Coach or Coaches in question have " give up" This player certainly obviously feels like they have... I don't think this is the case but I am sure that there are a lot of feelings that go on when a team is getting Routed. I think this player or these players that feel this way should say why this is so. Fact is if you don't have a short memory the next game will get you before you can regroup, so lets forget about Northern and move on to Eastern Alamance. Lets be ready to play and play hard....
ReplyDeleteI've talked to quite a few cougar players over the last couple of days and none of them feel this way.... I have to woodier if it's even actually a cougar player who said this... Or was it an aggravated parent projecting their feelings without knowing the whole deal??? It always hurts to lose... But seriously, Northern was the better team on Friday night.... We can beat the next two though if we focus, so shake it off and let's get on with the next game!
ReplyDeleteI have heard the JV cheerleaders "clowning" the Varsity players about losing, there a probably a number of players that feel that way and they are just afraid to express it, because they might lose playing time. The fact is we lost that one game, it doesn't mean that we are losers it only means that we didn't bring our A game. Let's bring our A game every single time, no matter what anyone says. P.S. Lets get as excited about our players on the field as some of you are about the balls that are being thrown into the stands.
ReplyDeleteNEVER, EVER, EVER QUIT!!!!!!!! YOU ARE NOT GIVING UP ON THE COACHES YOU ARE GIVING UP ON YOU!
