Fan Fare

What can fans, parents, grandparents, & non-football playing students do to make Cougar Football better?  Can this group make a difference?

  1. I believe everyone can have a place in making cougar football better. The fans can start by cheering loudly at the games and keeping negative comments to a minimum - it doesn't help anything to be yelling at the coach or undermining authority during a game - take that crap off the field and talk to the coaching staff directly if you have a problem. Otherwise - just support the players. Non-football playing students can either support the program or stop dragging it down. If you are not out there suiting up, making it better... then shut up (no offense). Just my two cents.

  3. If you want to make the team better just watch what reidsville does with their team. I know we are not Reidsville but they have a athletic program that I know is great. The best thing is allowing the players have weight training, watching tapes and have volunteers help orgainize training programs. Helping out with the players with transportation for work outs for the parents that can't provide a ride for them. This keeps kids away from drugs, gangs, etc. Last but no least be supportive of the coaches. I would love to able do what they do. Remember they work on days off and stay up late nights preparing for games/practices give the credit they deserve.

  4. I think that it will encourage our boys to play better if the fans come to the game to support them and the coaches, instead of just sitting around looking like knots on logs, we all paid our money so why not make the best of it and cheer on the guys win or lose. we should support the team all the way until its 00:00 on the clock, lets not forget that we are parents also. Lets do all we can to help the boys fight for a 10-1 season. Dont put them down by saying that they have already LOST to teams they HAVENT played.

  5. I agree that the parents need to come to the game and cheer for our team during the whole game. Our boys need come to the games excited about playing. They do not need to think they are going to lose before the game even starts. The parents need to stop talking negative. We should encourage our guys to play as as team and hold their heads high. The Cougars are a great bunch of guys and they need to know it.

  6. I have a question for some us parents or so called patrons of Cougar football. The kids have a saying "Work together, Win together"! That saying goes for us as parents and patrons also. How are the kids suppose to buy into the program and vision of this program if they hear negative comments about the coaching staff, play calling etc. etc. We as parents so take the time and just think about how much time and dedication it takes to be a coach. Most of the coaches have careers, families and other activities that they are involved in. But, they still find the time to come out to practice and games win or loose, week after week. If it is so easy for us a patrons to judge them, then why dont we do it? If we have a problem with play calling or our childs activity on the field, then why dont we ask the coach if we can watch film or get a copy of the game film and watch it ourselves. If we want our kids to have a successful season then we must either jump on or jump off. There is no in between. I believe the kids believe they are winners. We should too!!!!!

  7. I agree with you we should all work together in making this a positive experience for your children, coaches, fans, families and the school. I believe in these boys always have and always will; we ALL need to take some type of responsibility on winning and loosing. I have yet to hear one of the coaches say that they made a bad decision in playing calling, but I have hear or seen a player say my fault!

  8. Yea i agree, but from what I hear the coaches need to be able to accept constructive criticism and deal with it. They need to encourage the team to win and not already count them out as already lost to teams they haven't played. I haven't had a chance to visit a game yet but I'm coming because I'm a cougar all the way. I get tired of hearing people from the other teams and schools dogging out our coaches saying that they cant take the pressure of fans being fans, talking about how our coaches need to quit being babies. I also hear there is a lady who is very supportive of the team. she hollers and screams for the boys win or lose, thats what every cougar fan should do. I look forward to seeing her when i can make it to the games,so maybe i can help her cheer on the COUGARS!!!

  10. First off the word is spelled LOSE not LOOSE for your information but that is fine. I have to say if you Coach you already know Parental and fan criticism comes with the territory. Even The Reidsville Rams have there own Fan detractors if you have been to their games and sit on the home side you know what I am talking about. Winning cures a whole lot of ills. It is what it is If I call a play and it works 20 out of 20 times this week because of whatever reason and we are sucessful as a team then my play calling may not be praised but it certainly wont be questioned.
Now next week I can face a team with the same exact scheme and I call the same plays and we are not successful then I may even get some tomatoes Thrown at me. Funny but perception is everything there are variables in every Football
game.... How do I block this kid can we beat that one to the corner. Can We cover him can so and so come off the Block. You cannot walk around with Blinders and think there wont be people criticizing Coaches. I may think I do a pretty fair Job Coaching but you may think that I am the worst Offensive Line Coach in the World.
The Only thing I can do is evaluate and prepare, prepare, prepare... Coaches can't execute
If the issue is to whom I put on the field again this is subjective but if you think a Coach is not playing your child for whatever reason, please set an appointment and talk to him they would more than Love for you to know why your Little Barry Sanders either hasn't cut the mustard or maybe not spent enough real quality time preparing IE( Weightroom/ Summer workouts)
Hey I want to let you all know I think all your kids are great to a certain extent but it is your Job and Your Kids Job to be eligible. If it were mine and they only passed 3 out of 4 subjects there would be a whole lot more to worry about then Football....Do I think that we are where we need to be, NO but how many of you are just as responsible as our Head Coach... You Think about that. Can you dig That Sukkka

  11. I have a comment for the person who anonymously said they don't come to games, but are planning to -- if you don't come to games how can you type your "thoughts" as though they are fact? You are basing what you think you know on what you heard? Seriously? When start showing up to every game - like the coaches and some of us fans - then you MIGHT have some room to talk... until then, since you really don't know anything - because you haven't been there -- be careful or you might be accidentally accusing or saying that isn't even accurate. just saying... how would you like someone to come to your job - tell you to stop being a baby about something they HEARD you did and they never set foot there? That would be unreasonable for them to do that to you, even if they got what they thought were "facts" from someone who DID work with you. I'm a HUGE Cougar fan - I am at EVERY GAME... I cheer for our team win or lose. I am not always happy with the Coach's decisions but I recognize it is their choice to make and I know they do the best they can. NOBODY likes to lose - NOBODY. The players don't always execute - they are human, the coach's don't get on the field and run their own plays - so when the players don't execute - well this can cause a problem. Still - as a fan, a true fan - I'm THERE --- cheering regardless.
